20 December 2011 (Phnom Penh) – The University of Cambodia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Chosun University at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, 20th December. Both institutions have also signed an “Agreement on the Promotion of Research and Educational Exchange.”
Representing the University of Cambodia, Ms. Por Malis, Vice President of Operations, signed the MOU with Dr. Sang Youl LEE, Vice President, Chosun University. Prof. Dr. Byung-Hwa Lee, Director of the Institute for East Asian Economy represented Chosun University, and he was accompanied by Dr. Jae-Ouk Ahn, Research Professor.
The MOU seeks to fulfill a number of core objectives to engage academic cooperation. The end goal is to advance learning through empirical research and knowledge sharing.
Chosun University and the University of Cambodia will promote the following activities in order to foster educational cooperation:
1. Collaborative research, lectures, symposia, and professional development workshops 2. Exchange of scholars, staffs, and researchers 3. Exchange of undergraduate and graduate students including the development and implementation of study abroad, service learning, and international development initiatives.
The Agreement supports implementation of the partnership on Collaboration and Academic Exchange between Chosun University and the University of Cambodia. Terms have been reached on the following areas:
1. The exchange of scholars, staff, and researchers 2. The exchange of students
The University of Cambodia was founded in 2003, and embraces a strong culture of pursuing empirical knowledge through systematic research; encouraging intellectual stimulation and growth; learning across the spectrum and lifespan; supporting innovation and critical thinking, not simple rote memorization; and improving society by reinvesting intellectual capital.
Chosun University is a national private institution that was founded in 1946. Since its inception, Chosun has developed into a top private university. It has received an award by The Higher Education Capacity Building Project designated by The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in 2009. |
