In various forms, science and technology have played an important role in the development of all civilisations; this was particularly the case the past century, and science and technology promise to be of ever-increasing importance for our lives in the present century.
The courses offered by the College of Science and Technology not only aim to provide the students with a solid knowledge-base about selected disciplines. As should be the case with any good institute of higher learning, more advanced-level courses, in particular, are of sufficient depth to contribute to the students' intellectual development by training them to think clearly and creatively in a focused manner. This is to give them confidence in tackling and solving problems; including the communication of their results to others.
The mission of the College of Science and Technology is to produce graduates who have a good grounding in science and technology; and who thus have both the knowledge and the ability to use it to contribute to Cambodia's future socio-economic development.
1. DEGREE OFFERINGS
Students in the College of Science and Technology can do a Bachelor of Science degree in one of the following subjects:
2. ADMISSION AND DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
In order to be admitted to study for a Bachelor’s degree, an applicant must have a high school diploma or an equivalent; and take and pass the University of Cambodia Undergraduate Entrance Examination (under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport) and the University of Cambodia English Placement Exam.
New students must spend their first year fulfilling the Foundation Year Program’s requirements, as specified by the Accreditation Committee of Cambodia: this comprises eight General Education courses and two oriented subjects related to the student’s major: ITE102 (Introduction to Computer Programming C++) and either ITE103 (Introduction to the Internet) or ITE104 (Logic and Computation). A student must pass the Foundation Year in order to proceed into the second year programme.
In addition to the Foundation Year and other General Education requirements set by the University of Cambodia, Bachelor’s degree candidates for the existing programmes in the College of Science and Technology are required to take a minimum of a further 48 credit hours (the equivalent of sixteen courses) in their respective major. Of the other eleven elective courses (33 credits) which the student must take, up to a maximum of six courses (18 credits) can be from within the same College.
3. COMPUTER SCIENCE
The Computer Science programme concentrates on computer and network hardware systems; their design and management; and programming principles and languages.
Apart from fulfilling the Foundation Year and General Education requirements for this major, students doing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science must take eleven other major core courses (33 credits), along with five major elective courses (15 credits). Of the remaining eleven elective courses (33 credits) which the student must take, up to a maximum of six courses (18 credits) can be from within the same College

4. ELECTRONICS AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS
The programme in Electronics and Telecommunications is designed to give graduates an understanding of the theory of electronics and how this is being used to develop the rapidly-evolving systems of modern telecommunications.

5. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Information Technology is based on the systematic study of algorithmic processes – their theory, analysis, design, implementation, and application; and applying this knowledge to solve problems – creating the right model and then devising an appropriate computer manipulation for a solution. Thus, even though it is a relatively new field, Information Technology touches virtually every area of human endeavor.
The Information Technology curriculum is both problem-solving and applications oriented. Graduates will find ready employment in almost any area of computer use: managing networks, developing software solutions, or designing systems for organizations, businesses, and government institutions.
