March 6, 2013: The Academic Foundation Department (AFD) hosted an orientation on March 6, 2013 in the Conference Center of the University of Cambodia for all new students planning to join its Foundation Year program.
Dr. Y Ratana (Dean of Undergraduate Studies Division and AFD Director) gave a presentation covering a brief history of AFD since its establishment in 2005; and its objectives, as outlined by the Accreditation Committee of Cambodia (ACC), to ensure the quality of higher education in Cambodia and provide students with fundamental knowledge by doing different courses from different fields of study. He emphasized that the AFD has to comply with all conditions set by the ACC, which is an independent national body to ensure quality assurance of higher education in Cambodia.
He went on to review the Foundation Year course requirements, policies and regulations, including changing of major and session, the subjects for the Entrance Exam for each College and major, and the structure of Foundation Year courses. He also encouraged students to study hard, complete all requirements of their undergraduate program degree and become a qualified and valuable human resource for Cambodia. At the end of his presentation, Dr. Y requested students to frequently check for updates on the Foundation Year, which are posted on the board in front of the AFD Office, and then answered students’ questions.
