On November 16th, 2015, Ms. Yong Sarah Zhou, Resident Representative of the IMF, came to UC to meet with Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, President of the University of Cambodia, and his team to discuss possible areas of collaboration. Ms. Por Malis, Vice President of Operations, Dr. Greg Emery, Dean for the Techo Sen School of Government and International Relations (TSS), Ms. Toptosseda Uk, Director for the Office of the President, Ms. Samantha Smith, Advisor to the President, and Mr. Ban Bunheng, Assistant to the President and Deputy Director for the ASEAN Study Center, also attended the meeting.
Dr. Kao Kim Hourn began the meeting by giving a brief explanation of the University of Cambodia and its many colleges, schools, departments, and centers. The meeting then discussed possible areas of collabora-tion. Ms. Yong Sarah Zhou shared a brief report on the activities of IMF and their future goals for Cambodia. She began by explaining that the IMF is looking to do more direct cooperation with the private sector, in an effort to diversify the kinds of interactions and projects they complete. She shared with the team that the IMF has completed an economic survey of Cambodia, and would love to share this information with students.
Dr. Greg Emery suggested conducting a presentation and discussion session at UC with graduate stu-dents from TSS. After a brief discussion about logistics, a tentative date and program were set. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn also suggested hosting a more general sharing session for undergrad students, to be held at a later date. The meeting was quite successful and UC is very much looking forward to the start of what promises to be a fruitful relationship with the IMF.
