PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The position with The UC Bulletin is a 7-month (2 editions), non-paid internship for students who want to further their education and gain experience in journalism.
The internship is open to students of any major who can demonstrate a proficiency in English writing. You should possess an eagerness to learn and must be willing to be creative and think of new ideas. You will be expected to adhere to all deadlines assigned by the editor and meet with the editor for 2-3 hours per week during normal working hours (8am-6pm).
If you fulfill all requirements of the internship, you will be provided with a certificate of completion and a formal recommendation letter from the editor upon completion.
SCOPE
As an intern, you will work directly with the UC Bulletin editor, attending events, conducting interviews and writing 1-2 articles per month. In addition, you will learn how to use design programs such as Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
QUALIFICATION
To apply, please submit the following to Ms. Samantha Smith:
- Must be a current UC student who will be enrolled for the duration of the internship
- A one-page cover letter introducing yourself and explaining why you want to be a UCB intern
- CV
- One personal piece of writing that demonstrates your best qualities as a writer (This can be a class assignment or something you have written in your free time).
- A list of 5-10 story ideas for The UC Bulletin. (Story ideas can include events, student issues, current event issues, or any other ideas that you have).
